Fox Valley Hospice is one of about 100 volunteer hospices in the U.S. that has chosen not to pursue Medicare certification and are members of the Volunteer Hospice Network, which was established by the Hospice Association of America to promote the growth, diversity and development of volunteer organizations that serve those who are dealing with life-threatening illness and those who are grieving. The admission criteria is not affected by reimbursement or regulatory restrictions. Fox Valley Hospice has chosen to remain a volunteer hospice because it allows them to serve all people in need of hospice and bereavement services. Individuals can pursue curative, active treatment while receiving services and are not required to have a time expected prognosis. The Fox Valley community supports the hospice through memorials, donations, grants, special events/fundraising, Community Chest, Mental Health Boards and trust income. Fox Valley Hospice consits of a team of healthcare professionals and extensively trained volunteers who provide support tailored to the needs and wishes of patients, their families and grieving individuals. The Fox Valley Hospice team of nurses, social workers and grief counselors are available 24 hours a day. Social workers support families emotionally and help access helpful services. Bereavement services are provided for any family member or individual who has experienced the death of a loved one including a variety of support groups for adults and children.
