The Illinois Council was established as a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation founded in 1989 and is an affiliate of the National Council on Problem Gambling. The Council offers an excellent selection of literature on the subject of compulsive gambling. Educates health professionals, judges, lawyers, EAPs; engages in promotion of knowledge of compulsive and problem gambling through the media and educates legislators and other public officials regarding compulsive and problem gambling.

The council also provides professional speakers on the subject of compulsive gambling and educational workshops for the helping professionals.
