The Board of Directors of the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center adopted a new mission in December 2000: The Chicago Children's Advocacy Center (CCAC) coordinates, supports, and participates in an interdisciplinary response to child abuse victims and their families in a child-friendly environment that ensures children's safety, health and well-being. The CCAC accomplishes its mission by:

• providing healing services, including crisis intervention, interviewing, advocacy, and treatment for children and their families;
  
  
• providing outreach and education to deepen the community's understanding of the causes and consequences of child abuse and stimulate community participation in caring for Chicago's abused children; and
  
  
• providing a physical and professional environment that supports the work of the agencies charged with responding to child abuse.
